Background Information
Healthy Living Niagara’s Secondary School Committee aims to facilitate the
optimal health of Niagara school communities. The committee works to plan,
implement, and evaluate school-based initiatives that encourage children,
parents and school staff to adopt healthy lifestyle choices.
In 2005 the committee began work on a DVD to demonstrate the positive impact
of physical activity on teenagers’ education. The DVD urges parents to
encourage their teenagers to take more than one physical education credit in
high school. It further urges viewers to ask the Ministry of Education to
add a second compulsory Health and Physical Education Credit at the
secondary level.
